The problem the Yes campaign can’t seem to fathom is that ridiculing the people who disagree with you ain’t gonna change their mind - which should be their first priority if they want the referendum to succeed. Getting a few chuckles in a friendly room doesn’t get the win.

So the yes campaign’s interpretation of the referendum result … the 60 per cent of the population who weren’t comfortable with the proposal were either racist, stupid or too weak to think for themselves. Ok, got it.
