The house on Alemouth Road, #Hexham where in 1882 the owner, John Robson, a nurseryman, along with others, founded the English Arboricultural Society. It later became the RoyalForestrySociety Society.

.Tom McKinney I love the dawn chorus on BBC Radio 3 at 6.30…in theory. My radio has been playing since about 6am, but the problem is, in bed & without my hearing-aids in, the high frequencies of birdsong just don’t register. Still, two minutes of silence is also a gift!

“Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go…. You are amazing God.” Even when strikes human beings & kills them? This isn’t the Creator I worship. [Chris Tomlin, “Indescribable”, just heard on the Daily Service on BBC Radio 4 extra.] Why does anyone sing such lyrics?

“It adds up to the steady erosion of US democracy & democratic norms. Even if it is happening quietly, without sound & fury, it is still happening. The work of opposing it begins with noticing it.” Important article by the ever watchful Jonathan Freedland. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

The summer of 1976 was exceptional then but wouldn’t be now. A winter like 1962/3 is improbable this century, unless owing to #climatechange the Gulf Stream starts to fail in the N Atlantic, possible according to some climate modellers. Remember both well. theguardian.com/environment/20…

Such a lovely programme today. Thank you BBC Radio 3 & Mark Forrest for this superb afternoon of music. #ClassicalLive
