Now for some personal news: today is my last day as Dean. I was stunned to be informed by our new provost there will no longer be a Dean of Honors, period.  Nor an Assistant Dean.  Rather, I was told there will be a “director” of honors--but that person will not be me. (12/21)

“…if, of three friends (A, B, and C), A should die, then B loses not only A but ‘A’s part in C,’ while C loses not only A but ‘A’s part in B.’ In each of my friends there is something that only some other friend can fully bring out. By myself I am not large enough to call the

Singing a song from the Codex of Alienor of Brittany (13th century.) The book primarily contains gregorian chants, but also features a rare example of an early polyphony sequence- a rhythmical poem sung after the Alleluia and before the Gospel- about Mary.

I think it’s difficult to make a great film about foundational mythos. There is such wide appeal I think it’s hard to make something that can “feel” right to everyone. Thoughts?

So grateful that God used my book The Case for Christ in the life of Josh Timonen, the former assistant to famous atheist Richard Dawkins. Josh is now a devoted follower of Jesus! The amazing story: pelhamtoday.ca/columns/faith-…

Calm. Cool. Collected. Named everyone else on his crew. Said “anyone else would have done the same,” and then saved close to 200 people. A truly humble professional and hero. I hope this man gets every good thing he deserves.

It’s interesting that when you talk about people *being* what they *do* you get an interesting mixture, right and left, liking the post even though the implications of whatever it means in context is likely opposite for both of them.

Stan de Dariom-Larmedrov Patrick Neve Identity isn’t found in the struggles themselves but in the overcoming; the things we do in spite of temptation; not that we are frequently tempted by something in particular. If we give-in, only then do we become defined, identified, by it. What we do about it matters more.

Being conservative has nothing to do with the mean between thesis & antithesis. The mean as a North Star is a recipe for mediocrity & stagnation. The North Star can only be the truth. Be conservative relative to the truth, not the mean.

The problem for progressive Church folks is that there’s 2000 (or so) years of material that unsuspecting people can read & engage with that put a lie to their vision. Converts are stubborn things bc they take it seriously. Hard to memory hole the tradition & scripture.
