Alex Cora on The Clubhouse at the end of last season: “I truly believe this is the last struggle of the organization.” 😬

Breslow: “I will stand here and say that we would not have made this trade if we didn’t think it was best for the organization and the vision and the beliefs and culture that we are trying to create.”

Breslow: “It’s not that this was the best deal that we could get, because the best deal that we could get may not necessarily be good enough to trade a player like Raffy Devers. This is the one that made sense, this is the path that we went down, and we ended up where we did.”

Someone in the control room at NESN got the code red to cut the press conference short. Surprised it took that long to be honest.

Craig Breslow gave a very fair, detailed, and (I think) honest answer to Jeff Passan when asked to explain where the identity/culture gap existed with Devers. If only that part could explain the dog doo doo return for a player of that caliber, this would all be easier to digest.

Reminds me of when I witnessed a Patriots long snapper and punter almost get blown to bits by on-field pyro when coming out for early warmups one time. Could have been grisly. AMA.

A nice homage to the true Masshole spirit for the Commonwealth to spend a ton of time and money to not win a trial, only to double down and spend even more time and money to flat-out lose the same trial. If you’re going to get it wrong, at least be stubborn about it.
