And last but certainly not least, on Wednesday Xuan.L will be giving a talk about how multiplex tiling primer design and wastewater matrix type influence sensitivity for sequencing SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater

Panel discussion: - It is not possible to link cause-effect if there are no replicates (often the case in reactor experiments) - Metadata: not standarized, usually not available in publications

Today Claudia Etchebehere gave an interesting talk at IWA MEWE 2021! "How to manage microbial communities to produce energy from wastewaters: A Latin-American perspective" This conference is an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, knowledge and debate 😃 Our posters are: ⬇️1/4

With a photo of Pierre Servais on the slide. He was one of our research group’s (Michèle, Benoit and me) most important international collaborators. He passed away this year and will be deeply missed.

Time to switch the lights off and let water flow to rest on active learnings gained among peers from amazing contributions to IWA MEWE 2021 Day 1 Microorganisms & Water Resources. See you on Day 2 to consolidate principles and methods for Elucidating & Engineering Microbiomes.

Day 2 of IWA MEWE 2021 starts with the keynote of Dr. Takashi Narihiro. Yesterday I enjoyed a lot the presentations and the scientific discussion. This is my first conference after this strange period. Thanks to all the organizers David Weissbrodt Mark van Loosdrecht 

Really nice to see focused research on degrading a really nasty contaminant in our water by Williane Vieira Macêdo. This is the sort of science that makes a nice start of a bridge to engineering. #MEWE2021

PHNielsen Lab IWA MEWE 2021 @PerHNielsen Many many Congratulations, your early work in microbial ecology-Danish WWT inspired my doctoral research, and continues to fascinate uncovering of the functional, yet unknown microbes.
