Metro Vancouver Emergency Management staff continue to monitor water levels and debris flows on the Fraser River following the Chilcotin River landslide. Patrols are happening in regional parks and on Barnston Island, and people are asked to stay away from the river at this time.

Debris from the Chilcotin River landslide is starting to appear in the lower Fraser River. Metro Vancouver Emergency Management continues to monitor the situation at regional parks and Barnston Island. For safety, members of the public should stay away from the river’s edge.

Work continues in City of New Westminster to respond to a broken water main. The line is now isolated, and we are waiting for residual water to drain so that the next steps of assessment can take place to determine the cause and begin repairs.

Metro Vancouver began excavation to expose the broken water main in New Westminster yesterday afternoon, and that work continues this morning. We are working with City of New Westminster to remove water from affected residences, including two high-rise buildings.

The watermain break in City of New Westminster has now been exposed, and pipe inspection and repair design are underway. Good progress has been made pumping water out of nearby residences and inspections are taking place with the goal of restoring electricity.

UPDATE: ​Power has been restored at 71 Jamieson Crt. ​ Both 69 & 71 Jamieson have no power in common areas. The elevators remain out of service. The parkade also continues to be inaccessible. Owners should connect with Strata for ongoing updates.
