Five years ago there was a big hole in the ground where Grattan Street used to be.

Now, construction on is nearly done and weā€™re completing finishing touches above-ground so that Grattan Street can reopen to traffic.

We recently tested ā€™s fire safety systems with CSIRO. We monitored smoke movement, speed, extraction time and impact on emergency access. The tests showed all is working as expected to help keep people safe in the rare event of a fire.

What a difference 3 years make! šŸ—ļøšŸ§±

Brick by brick (all 104,000 of them), ā€™s 15 entrance arches were installed in 2021. In 2024, the underground station and its grand entrance are now finished.

Construction on has come a long way since we took this photo in 2019. The main entrance structure at the corner of Swanston and La Trobe streets was finished last year. Crews are now building operation rooms and passenger areas down below.

Weā€™ve reached a new PB šŸ’Ŗ

We ran 12 test trains between West Footscray to Hawksburn via the over a period of 3 hours.

Thatā€™s 18 trains an hour or 54 journeys, with trains running as often as 2 minutes apart. A major milestone for our testing program.
