We recently tested #ArdenStation ’s fire safety systems with CSIRO. We monitored smoke movement, speed, extraction time and impact on emergency access. The tests showed all is working as expected to help keep people safe in the rare event of a fire.

Brick by brick (all 104,000 of them), #ArdenStation ’s 15 entrance arches were installed in 2021. In 2024, the underground station and its grand entrance are now finished.

Did you know #ArdenStation is our shallowest metro station? Take the journey from the platform 14 metres underground up to the main entrance on Laurens Street.

Construction on #StateLibraryStation has come a long way since we took this photo in 2019. The main entrance structure at the corner of Swanston and La Trobe streets was finished last year. Crews are now building operation rooms and passenger areas down below.

We’ve reached a new PB 💪

We ran 12 test trains between West Footscray to Hawksburn via the #MetroTunnel over a period of 3 hours.

That’s 18 trains an hour or 54 journeys, with trains running as often as 2 minutes apart. A major milestone for our testing program.

This Easter we’re celebrating the egg-cellent structures of Town Hall and State Library stations 🐰🥚

Both stations have been built with dome structures which distribute weight evenly – just like the inherently strong shape of an egg.

It’s been 40+ years since #Melbourne ’s original tunnel boring machine, The Mole, dug the City Loop. And it’s been 3 years since TBM Meg finished her journey, marking the end of boring for the #MetroTunnel . Even Melbourne's difficult geology is no match for these massive machines!

The first test trains entered the #MetroTunnel in July 2023, kicking off rigorous testing of the signalling, and other systems. So far we have completed:

🕒 more than 1650 hours of testing
🤓 around 600 individual tests
🚇 16,000km of train testing to date.
