The lemurs are back! We are pleased to announce the opening of our new Lemur Loop expansion featuring three lemur species.

This new area includes 38 animals in 7 new habitats along 1,000 feet of unexplored path with 3 more exhibits coming soon.

Meet Kenna, our newest Giraffe calf born on Dec. 13 to parents Eva and Wakati!

She has integrated well into the herd, especially with the other two male calves, Hawthorne and Boomer. This is the second time in our history we celebrated three giraffes born in one year!

Taavi celebrated his 3rd birthday last Saturday with a 'cake' made of fruits and leaf biscuits and a special ice treat shaped like the number 3!! He enjoyed investigating the enrichment surprises inside the bags.

Say hello to Ocho, our new male capybara! He arrived at the zoo at the end of last year. He has adjusted well to life in Virginia and is getting along great with Flora, our female capybara. 🥹

Say hello to Isabela, our new Eurasian eagle owl! 🦉She is one of our newest residents. Her habitat is located by the sea eagles and wolves.

With a wingspan of up to 6 feet, they are one of the world's largest owls. They are known for their ear tufts and striking orange eyes.

Tonight (December 22) is the LAST night of Miracle of Christmas! ✨🐫🐫🐫

BIG milestone this week! Our new zookeeper service building reopened!

The new facilities are more than twice as large and are better equipped to handle the needs of our growing park. We are now one major step towards returning to normal post fire.

We're excited to announce the birth of a male Gemsbok! He was born on October 7 to parents Bridgette and Finneas after a 9 month gestation.

Gemsbok are a species of large antelope native to Southern Africa. Their habitat at the zoo is located next to the train station.
