Upper level ridge controls the pattern across the southeast US into next week and this will lead to above normal temperatures. If heading to the beach to cool off, elevated southwesterly winds will lead to a higher threat of rip currents so watch out! #FLwx #ALwx #GAwx

Some improvement in the drought monitor thanks to the rain this past weekend. HOWEVER, no significant rainfall is expected over #FL for the next week or so. We'll see if our progress regresses next week...

The weather will continue to be picture perfect across South Florida this weekend with sunshine & minimal rain chances. However on the flip side, the lack of much cloud cover & light winds will result in hot PM temps. If you'll be outdoors, keep these heat safety tips in mind:

Aside from above average heat over the next several days, we will also be tracking a plume of Saharan Dust moving across the Tropical Atlantic. NASA's Dust Aerosol Optical Thickness model shows the edge of the plume potentially reaching our area by the middle of next week.

Today's Topic for Safe Boating Week is prepare for the unexpected. There are many items that need to be checked on any boat. Schedule a Vessel Safety Check with your local U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary or U.S. Power Squadrons before you hit the water. #nationalsafeboatingweek

Here is a simulated radar loop (LPMM) for tomorrow, showing the forecasted development of PM storms across southeastern Florida. The potential also exists for some of the storms to become strong to severe, producing frequent lightning, hail, & strong/severe wind gusts.

A plume of Saharan Dust will arrive across South Florida late this week, out ahead of a weak frontal boundary and moisture which will bring increasing rain chances this weekend. A more concentrated plume of Saharan Dust is modeled to arrive across the region mid next week.

Some strong thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening. Confidence is highest in heavy rain, possible flooding, and potential severe weather south of I-20 towards I-95, but anyone in the Midlands and CSRA should keep an eye out for any watches or warnings.
