The area of precipitation is now located here - area I've outlined is at risk of a covering or 1-2cm of snow. Some precipitation is developing ahead of it.

It's possible it makes it farther inland than I've outlined, these little disturbances are a pain to forecast.

Insane potential today, a few T-storms already around, some producing frequent lightning. Instability moving northward from France will support sufficient energy this afternoon. Its likely we will see one or two super-cells somewhere in the UK this afternoon.

Metoffice warning update paints a severe picture for northern parts, as exciting as the storms may seem we still need to remain safe. Keep updated with radar (Iphone has a built in one on the weather app) and social media. Make sure to stay indoors during storms.

current area of convection is largely focused on SW england and wales, a few strikes of lightning possible during these before stronger storms develop further east in the midlands and northern england

No signs of summer just yet as another deep area of low pressure tracks its way to the UK by Wednesday

There is the potential for the low to bring strong winds, particularly along the south coast accompanied by heavy rain and thunderstorms in places

1/8 [TECHNICAL] Models are now firming up on the idea of a very deep (unseasonably deep for August) crossing the Southern half of the UK on Wednesday. The Low will likely bring Strong Winds, Heavy Rain, & following that Heavy Showers & Thunderstorms in the Cool Northerly Flow.

GEFS and ECMWF ens mean keep us cool and wet through the first week of august, some uncertainty on the exact pattern but at the moment low pressure centred around iceland looks most likely.
