For only the second time in our 179-year history, the editors of Scientific American are endorsing a candidate for president. That person is Kamala Harris. | Editorial bit.ly/4daH36q

Maybe Marie Curie’s legacy is more than her 2 Nobels. In Elements of Marie Curie, Dava Sobel beautifully illuminates her dozens of scientific offspring, dozens of women physicists and chemists. My review in nature rdcu.be/dWnIV

Researchers from Northwestern have investigated charge transfer dynamics in supramolecular tessellations, exemplified by the tris(naphthalenediimide)-pyrene co-crystal CSD entry SUJVUS, here disguised as a Christmas tree. 🔗ccdc-info.com/4gCgglk #FeaturedStructureFriday

What a terrible loss. I had the good fortune of meeting him during my postdoc at UC-Berkeley. At Birmingham then, at dinner he lambasted British higher ed – ALWAYS opinionated, and usually correct. A giant of supramolecular and novel aromatic chemistry – may he rest in peace.

Colleagues, Students, Postdocs, Collaborators and Friends of Sir Fraser Stoddart Fraser Stoddart: I am writing with the sad news that Fraser passed away suddenly on 31 Dec (Australia time) while on holiday with family. No details yet on any services.

I will miss Fraser a great deal. Today marks 17 years since I became his personal assistant, and what a run it has been! We worked hard and also loved to joke around a wee bit. Best job I could ever have hoped for.

Today I celebrated Fraser in a small way by dining at an Australian cafe near his NU-Chicago office and ordering poached pears (on pancakes), one of the special desserts he liked making for group gatherings at his Evanston home. And I echo the words, Thanks Fraser for everything!
