I'm beginning a new book! Medieval Animals: A Cultural and Literary History w/Reaktion Books. It will have many beautiful illustrations and 10 short chapters. What would you like to see included? Feel free to post images as well as ideas. Thanks!

We are extremely concerned about Derek, a much-loved member of our maintenance team who has been missing since last Thursday. Have you seen him? Please share our post if you can; we are desperate to reunite Derek safely with his family as soon as possible st-annes.ox.ac.uk/appeal-for-hel…

Wonderful to be back at @MertonCollege introducing the Merton’s Beasts manuscript MS 249 to this year’s UNIQ #DH interns. Thank you Julia Walworth for making it possible and for showing us the old library too! 📚

A shout-out to our new followers, among them @buercky, @Eliz_Scully, Anthony Royle, @RubaSkala, & many thanks for carrying us across the 1500 mark. Celebrate in style by watching some of the Oxford treasures come to life e.g. Merton’s Beasts youtu.be/G0bLy3LhJTA

I had a great time taking part in this #Beasts of #AI workshop last week, with a truly interdisciplinary panel 🦁 Thanks to Rachel Douglas-Jones, TORCH Oxford, & co. for making it possible! I look forward to seeing how our beasts evolve as they meet new audiences! 👹

Treated myself to a manuscript day at the British Library today, and got to meet this beauty 📖😍 It contains one of only three copies of Philippe de Thaun’s #bestiary, another being Merton’s Beasts! 🦁 📷 BL, Cotton MS Nero AV #books #manuscripts #library #medievaltwitter

Another couple of indulgent days at the British Library Medieval Manuscripts this week, looking at some (nominally) thesis-relevant material 📚 Herewith a short thread containing a few highlights from the ones I could photograph 🧵 #books #manuscripts #library #medieval #medievaltwitter

Visited the amazing chained #library and #MappaMundi at Hereford Cathedral yesterday. A real treat to see that the (named!) scribe’s exhortation to pray for him was in Anglo-Norman, despite the rest of the Mappa being in Latin

It’s shaping up to be an exciting week! First, I get to be a part of the #CROSSREADS workshop on abbreviation at @MertonCollege, where I’ll talk about the Merton bestiary 🦁⬇️ Then, there’s the The Oxford Medieval Graduate Conference, where I’m presenting on authorship 📖 Can’t wait! #Medieval

What better way to end the #CROSSREADS workshop on abbreviation than with some abbreviations “in the wild” in the funerary inscriptions in @MertonCollege chapel! This one is a perfect example of the complexities we talked about in the sessions Now on to The Oxford Medieval Graduate Conference!
