We recently visited the fantastic Darwin College Library, Cambridge by Jeremy Dixon & Edward Jones. The building is a great inspiration; from its exposed green oak frame, natural ventilation & use of solar gain & shading as an integral part of the design. #cambridgearchitecture

We recently received the good news that our project for 16 new low-energy almshouses in Cambridge centre received planning approval 🎉 The design centres around a shared courtyard to encourage a sense of community & avoid loneliness, one of the factors reducing life expectancy.

Grosvenor Court is an ambitious retrofit & extension of an uninsulated 1930s block. It was significantly upgraded & the energy performance is to #EnerPHit standard. We developed the technical design based on a planning scheme by Matter Architects, working w/ the client on site.

This month’s building of the month is at Sissinghurst. At the far corner of the original castle site is a writing gazebo. Built in 1969 & designed by Francis Pym, it's the exact size & dimensions of the Apollo 11 Command Module that took Armstrong & Aldrin to the moon that year.
