What do online projects with MEP entail? In our recent project in Kachin state, there were three main elements covered. First, teaching skills: these were organised in a ‘workshop’ approach with providing input on a specific teaching technique or skill. #education #teaching

Our last post told you about 1 of 3 elements MEP covers in online projects. The 2nd element is English language training. A teacher taking part in the Kachin online project said "This course enhances communications skills. I can facilitate better writing, reading and speaking".

The 3rd of the 3 key elements provided in MEP’s online projects are the regular conversation classes linked to the KEY English course provided by UK volunteers recruited by MEP. These sessions are woven into the English Language course, providing practice on appropriate topics.

Today is World Refugee Day 2022, something that's important to MEP. MEP have worked in refugee camps along the Thai/Myanmar border, as well as with internally displaced refugees inside Myanmar. Anyone fleeing conflict has the right to seek protection elsewhere.

From 2021, MEP has been providing teacher training and English language teaching in war-torn Kachin State. 20 teachers attended the course, which provided ways to improve quality of teaching and learning. 600 children have consequently received improved quality of education.

After Myanmar's military took over the gov in a coup d'etat, thousands of teachers have been dismissed. MEP is committed to building meaningful relationships with teachers in Myanmar and supporting local schools to provide an education to those in most need. #EducationForAll

What have teachers in Myanmar said about our recent online project in Kachin? “This course will help me by learning amazing teaching skills, new vocabularies, grammar, and speaking skills from smart teachers. These would absolutely help me to teach the children effectively.”

Teachers who completed our recent online course in Kachin said it helped: “In the future, I will have more confident as a teacher. I have known a lot such as how to prepare lessons plan, how to encourage to our students. I have gotten different kinds of knowledge from everyone.”
