There is a call from Mayor's Office of Arts & Culture Boston. A call to artists for a long-term artwork that will complement the new Engine 17/Ladder 7 Fire Station. #JR103

The Call to Artist from Mayor's Office of Arts & Culture Boston has no geographic restrictions. It is open to all artists, national and international, with a strong preference for artists who have a connection to Dorchester and/or themes of the project. #JR103

The Mayor’s office of Arts and culture will provide $200,000 for the Engine 17/Ladder 7 Fire Station project. The office will only select one artist or artist team for this commission. #JR103

The artist commissioning process for the Engine 17/Ladder 7 Fire Station project has 5 steps: (1) call to artist opens - call to artist closes (2) submission reviews (3) finalist interviews (4) selected artists is commissioned. #JR103

The artwork created for Engine 17 will be accessioned into the City’s collection and maintained by the Mayor's Office of Arts & Culture Boston under the guidance of the Art Collections Manager. #JR103

The prefer materials of the artwork are those can be installed on the interior but enjoyed from the exterior, that are low maintenance, and that are robust and appropriate for a long-term installation. #JR103

The Mayor's Office of Arts & Culture Boston requires all commissioned artists carry a general liability insurance policy in the amount of $1M. If an artist has employees, they will also be required to have a workman’s compensation policy. #JR103

For this Engine 17/Ladder 7 Fire Station project, all artist teams are welcome to apply this project. Artists and artists teams may choose to engage consultants if they are selected for the project. The office is not seeking a consultant for this project. #JR103
