We looked at replacing Brandon Shores (coal plant in Baltimore) with 600 MW of 4-hour battery. That battery would earn roughly $100M annually at these capacity prices, without any energy arbitrage revenue. That's on a $600M battery. PJM told us batteries wouldn't pencil. Wrong.

Thank you Metra for providing easy fast convenient transit to get my 17 & 20 yo cousins from WI from Hyde Park to Lolla and back! They thought they were gonna take a Lyft, THEY THOUGHT WRONG. (Electric) Trains ftw! Increased service ftw! Housing density near transit stops ftw!

For people who haven’t been to Chicago, I evangelize Chicago. For people *in* Chicago, I evangelize Sleeping Bear Dunes and Lake Superior.

Advocates at NRDC 🌎🏡, RMI, Union of Concerned Scientists, CAC Indiana are on the money here: Too often, utilities get to recover losses from running unprofitable coal plants--harming consumers and restricting new & existing renewables. energynews.us/2024/08/05/ind…

Looking forward to making my first NYC Climate Week appearance. Julien Dumoulin-Smith will be giving a keynote followed by moderating a panel that consists of Logan Burke (Alliance for Affordable Energy), Jill Tauber (Earthjustice), and myself (RMI) docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI…

Duke Energy Indiana: We understand Hoosier families can't afford the $540 per year rate increase we are demanding. But it is more important to think about affordability for our shareholders!

If a girl doesn’t like you, it’s not because you play Magic the Gathering. It’s because you’re JD Vance. Love, A girl who has been deeply attracted to folks who play a LOT of MTG (And disgusted by JD Vance)

Instead of "how do we save Alicia 10 min on her drive," why isn't CDOT asking: Why is Alicia driving? What can we do to reduce commuter costs and emissions? What can we do to increase speed & frequency of transit so Purple/Red -> Blue line or UP-N -> Pink line works?

This to me says that utilities are pretty openly keeping coal suppliers around on ratepayers’ dime rather than weaning off of coal and allowing cheaper, cleaner resources to meet demand. If a utility wants to be a steward of coal, they should do it on their shareholders’ dime.

Utilities should be treated like the corporations they are, not charity cases for homes and businesses to prop up. energynews.us/2024/08/21/ohi…

Please tell me how it’s possible that the Greyhound bus has WiFi but the 2 decker Amtrak train with sleeper cars and a cafe between Chicago and DC did not?

Meg Hassett (@megtodiffer) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I'm no expert. But it is wild how experts at PJM and utilities have failed to grasp what feels so intuitive: If we get cheap, zero-fuel cost generation to meet increasing demand, we won't be stuck overpaying for fossil-fueled reliability. Guess their "we" is different than ours.

Anyone want to tweet pictures of their pets who are definitely not being eaten by immigrants and aren’t falling for Trump’s slanderous pandering to the animal community? Here’s my cats who are more worried about a Trump presidency than about being eated.

I'll be at #ClimateWeekNYC this year! I'm most excited to hear from Jill Tauber (Earthjustice), Joe Daniel (RMI), Logan (Alliance for Affordable Energy) about the critical work of challenging unprofitable coal plant operations to protect consumers and remove barriers to clean energy.

You all seem to misunderstand that September is still a summer month. September is not pumpkin spice season. September is wearing a cream colored sweater while sailing on a sunny day. It’s pairing an expertly roasted chicken with a glass of Sancerre.
