Loved this @earthinstitute brainstorm: Postdocs & two climate/sustainability leaders explore how to overcome barriers in dominant academic models hindering young scientists pursuing tough sustainability goals. Here @megmaurer2 notes community-based work takes time...

This is good, but personally I recommend reminding everyone about the cycles of living and killing and dying and rotting that we are all (as beings in ecologies) implicated in with a rousing "someone's got to die!" Really sidetracks the conversation for awhile.

Did fieldwork, as in actually being in a park talking to people, for the first time in over a year. Talking to NYers about the glory of tulips, relativeness of 'fresh air' and 'quiet', and our unique relationship to rats was, as always, THE BEST.

If there was one thing I wish I could get every American to understand it's this map. Being "closer to nature" doesn't make you greener. Cities are greener because people ditch cars & live in smaller spaces. Every apartment not built in a city pushes more people out into the red.

Preparing for the most exciting presentation of my career thus far: "How Plants Help Us." To be presented, at my child's request, to the kindergarten class tomorrow.

Please take some time to absorb and share this extraordinary talk and conversation with landscape architect Kofi Boone (kofi boone) on the lessons and legacies of Black landscape history, experience, and practice. It will change how you see the environment. forum.ecodesigncollective.org/t/view-online-โ€ฆ

โ€œWinningโ€ grants/debates etc โ€œDefendingโ€ dissertation โ€œCompetitiveโ€ awards What else comes to mind? Academia is like sports. Worse, itโ€™s conceptualized & practiced as some sort of war or imperialist projects (remember โ€œThe Imperial Universityโ€?) Need to change this language
