I am delighted to have another #PhD chapter #published! This was a really interesting study combining my expertise in #microbiome and #metagenomics Prof. Orla O’Sullivan, with Karina Q expertise in #metabolomics Susan Joyce , and our expert #SportScience Jamie Pugh and Greg Grosicki
Specific strains of #Hafnia #paralvei have chlorate-reducing capabilities. An innovative approach to the issue of #chlorate byproducts by going back to the source for a solution! Well done to Meghana Srinivas 🎉& the team. I'm sure there are many more interesting results to come!
So glad to share our group's Billy McCarthy John Kenny recent publication🎉 on chlorate-reducing Hafnia paralvei isolated from raw milk
Thrilled to see our research getting spotlighted on Agriland! It's been an incredible journey working with Orla O' Sullivan SoilEnvMicro Florence Abram VistaMilk Research Ireland Centre and the entire team. Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such an impactful project. 🌱✨
And here is my amazing colleague and incredible bioinformatician N. Rose Edwin digging up the dirt on current classifiers used in soil
Concluding #MicrosocIrish23 with a 'swin-derful' presentation by our own phage scientist J.O.K.Emmanuel🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️, serving up some phage cocktails for our 'oink-tastic' friends! 🐷🍹🔬
What are fermented foods and why should we care? Ramya Balasubramanian presents her work on understanding the role of fermented foods in modulating the microbioata-gut-brain axis… #APCSymposium2023
Honored to be named an EPE champion by VistaMilk Research Ireland Centre ! Over 4 years with VistaMilk Research Ireland Centre & Teagasc , I've spread science to farmers, students, & industry partners. From school visits to podcasts & articles, it's been a privilege. Excited for more! #EPEchampion #ScienceCommunication
huge congratulations N. Rose Edwin on a fantastic first publication from her PhD thesis VistaMilk SFI Research Centre SoilEnvMicro Florence Abram Amy Fitzpatrick link.springer.com/10.1186/s40793…
Congratulations N. Rose Edwin, so proud! 🙌
Great to be back in Liverpool to present our Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine funded long read sequencing and phage research, and to visit the super facilities CGR Uni of Liverpool Microbiome Innovation Centre (MIC)
Some weekend reading…great to see GROND, our new database for long-read amplicon sequencing of the ribosomal operon, is out. Congrats Calum Walsh 🇮🇪🇦🇺 Meghana Srinivas DvS Research Group Paul Cotter Tim Stinear microbiologyresearch.org/content/journa…
Planning long-read amplicon sequencing for better species resolution? Check out GROND, our new database of ribosomal operons, out in Microbiology Society. Thanks to Calum Walsh 🇮🇪🇦🇺 John Kenny DvS Research Group Paul Cotter Tim Stinear go.shr.lc/4caUAum
It's been a great two days at #ISME19. Here are N. Rose Edwin and Viyal Soni from our lab group, presenting their work on benchmarking classifiers for soil metagenomic profiling and the identification and characterisation of phages in fermented foods. So proud!
Great to see Meghana Srinivas get the chance to present her Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine funded work at such a high quality conference
Thank you #ISME19 for the opportunity to present my work on 16S-ITS-23S rRNA (rrn) operon sequencing. Grateful to Teagasc Food Research Programme, APC Microbiome Ireland, and special thanks to Calum Walsh 🇮🇪🇦🇺 for his contributions to the study with his work on the rrn operon database, GROND.
It’s been an incredible journey over the past four years, and I couldn’t have come this far without the support of my amazing supervisor, John Kenny. I’ll miss everything about this chapter, the people, experiences, and personal growth, and will cherish these forever.
