The Old Vic are deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Dame Maggie Smith. A titan of the stage and the screen, she spent eight years performing on our stage as part of the newly formed National Theatre Company. Our thoughts are with her family at this incredibly sad time.

Following the sad news of the passing of legendary actress Dame Maggie Smith, West End theatres will dim their lights for 2 minutes at 7pm on Tuesday 1 October, in her memory. Smith was a six-time Olivier nominee and was the recipient of the 2010 Special Award. 📸: John Haynes
