The BBC confirms BBC News Channel and BBC World will merge and simply be known as BBC News. Will have more shared content, will offer separate broadcasts depending on what’s happening at home and abroad

BBC News Channel changes have just been announced: * “UK viewers will receive specific content at certain times of the day, and during certain news stories.” * A domestic breaking news only stream would break out during specific news events.

* “The BBC will invest in visualising programmes based on popular radio shows, with new technology and studio capacity to do so. This will begin with the BBC Radio 5 Live Nicky Campbell programme, which will be broadcast on BBC Two on weekday mornings.”

These changes will inevitably result in job losses. BBC News Channel attracts big audiences during big stories too (like last week), so these changes will bring additional pressure to ensure that it still can provide coverage audiences expect.
