One of the craziest things I learned last week at #AAI2024 was that we have more free-floating extracellular mitochondria in our blood than white blood cells. This was not in any textbook that I ever read! sci.news/biology/cell-f… And the original paper: faseb.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1096/fj…

I know a lot of people are unhappy that Keystone paywalled the content, but on behalf of myself and Renegade Research, I'm happy to share a photo my poster from the conference on transient remissions from ME/CFS associated with antibiotics.

Incredibly exciting diagnostic tool potential — Michal Tal, PhD MIT team is doing nailfold capillaroscopies on #LongCovid patients before and after a NASA lean test, and said the results have been incredibly striking compared to controls. My results were very abnormal !

Well there seems to be quite an explosion in discussion on glutamate! I’ll thread some resources here. In the meantime, AMA 🤷‍♀️

John Bailey thank you so much! This model fits me well and has protected me since 2020. The one time I got COVID is when I (stupidly) took my mask off around family for a Christmas. I learned a valuable lesson that day!

Greatness Can you send me some links to these studies? I'd be curious to read them. It's anecdotal, but I have only been sick once since 2020, and it's when I didn't wear a mask around some people. I like not being sick, so I intend to do what I can to continue not being sick.

Greatness And there's some science to back up wearing a mask to protect others: Here's a DARPA-funded study just last year showing that N95 masks significantly reduced exhaled viral load: thelancet.com/journals/ebiom…

Mitochondria are known as the "powerhouses" of a cell. But that is a ridiculously incomplete description. A new study shows that human cells "weaponize" mitochondria during infection. Mitochondria ramp up their metabolism to deprive pathogens of folate, a molecule required for
