The comparison game can be intense in academia, but it is built on the lie that there can only be one winner at the end of the game. Define what winning means for you and recognize that someone else achieving their win likely does not prevent you from achieving yours.

I’m not surprised by this soft statement. What change do you make here? When they click publish is there a “are you sure” pop up smh. First it was “it needs tweaking” now it didn’t belong. Smh tragic that a journal with such power and prestige is acting so little.

Eric and other members of the Angewandte Chemie International Advisory Board have resigned their positions on the Board.

Future grad students, please take into account location when you chose your school. I cannot stress this enough. Doing what you love is important, but living where you feel happy, comfortable, and somewhat at home is just as important.

It is with heavy heart that I say RIP to Prof. Joel Shulman. One of the best I’ve been around. I will do my best to carry on your life’s work.

I never wanted to have a role model and I certainly didn't want to be one. Adam Grant Adam Grant has an explanation and a Tim Urban Tim Urban picture to go with it. Tempted to pick them both as role models 😉.
