The JM is now over for me. I am so excited to be joining the econ department at HEC Paris in Sept '25! Before then, I will spend one year as a postdoc at MIT, within the Science for Progress Initiative. I am so grateful to friends, advisors, colleagues & family for their support

Having to assert allegiance to a viewpoint and describe how you have advanced it and will continue to do so really is insulting to the whole enterprise of higher ed. Not to mention the performative aspect of the required essays…

Fantastic conference in Paris. Learned a lot on how families make decisions. Thanks to the organizers for the 2024 edition of their “New Advances in Family Economics” Workshop.

A fantastic choice from the EEA! Michele's work spans big questions in macro and micro and how they are linked, and she has also made many public service contributions to economics. Many congrats Michele! 👏

Congratulations Michele Tertilt! A well-deserved award and also a great recognition for the family-macro research program and the extended family of economists working on this.

Excited to see our paper on low birth rates in Korea finally in print. Fits well with the current discussion on low birth rates around the world. The difficulty to combine a career with a family is clearly one reason, but the “obsession” with education also plays a role.

Employment protection is the key to understanding differences in the college wage premium across countries, say researchers at LSE and UTMManagement. They can explain close to half of the divergence between the US and Germany. #ResearchHighlight aeaweb.org/research/colle…

Given that this place will soon be run out of a government ministry, I am giving the other place a try: Matthias Doepke I hope to see many of you there!
