Black Students Are More Likely to Be Falsely Accused of Using AI to Cheat The findings on Black students are attributed to either unfairness in AI detection tools or biases in educators themselves, according to experts. edweek.org/technology/bla…

melinda d. anderson Yeah, it made me so angry when I saw them--this company that has hurt so many kids in poverty and advanced racism in the literary sphere--trying to cast themselves profiteering off of people's care for kids as a good thing.

Legacy media is really failing us by not asking public officials about public safety measures that save lives like trauma centers and housing. The constant framing of surveillance as safety is limiting. We are spending so many resources on a debate that’s not based on facts.

Across the U.S., punitive disciplinary practices in schools push students out of class and create pathways to criminal legal system involvement. Explore National Black Women’s Justice Institute (NBWJI)'s new data hub to learn how these practices disproportionately harm Black girls: nbwji.org/school-pushout…

I just read an article on the Supreme Court affirmative action ruling’s impact on Harvard’s admissions and for the first time learned that Richard Kahlenberg— Mr. “Beware of School Segregation”—was an expert witness for Students for Fair Admissions in its lawsuit (!!!) Wtaf??!!

melinda d. anderson (@mdawriter) 's Twitter Profile Photo

And THIS is why I DO NOT trust white ‘progressives’. Ffs. Kahlenberg is out here pushing class-based affirmative action knowing full well that it will NOT result in same levels of racial diversity as race-based affirmative action. But he’s supposedly for integrated schools?! 😒

“According to a groundbreaking new report” is the most overused phrase in journalism. What’s groundbreaking about data showing Black girls face more frequent, severe discipline in public schools? It’s the most frequently cited data and most commonly reported story on Black girls!

And what’s particularly tiresome is that these stories seldom go beyond the data dump. Helping readers understand *why* Black girls face ongoing barriers to education and safety in public schools is left unaddressed in these stories. We can do better. ewa.org/data-research-…
