A semi-sad celebration today. We on Irish Fiscal Advisory Council said goodbye (preemptively) to colleague of 7 years Caoimhín Ó Tiománaigh! Off to (nice) pastures new but we will miss him greatly. He has had a huge influence on Irish macro & policy with his multiple papers on how to measure activity.

Today my dad and I joined a ceremony Girls' College to officially open the Ciara McMahon science lab. Ciara’s love of science began while at the school & this was a great way to remember her and inspire the next generation.

Fun fact to mark my return to Hall Road, Bulawayo where I lived as a primary school child:

I cannot claim to be the best macroeconomist to have spent childhood years on the road… Stan Fischer also lived here as a child. A fact I found out from the great man himself at a dinner.
