Today we celebrate the MCEC lustrum! We have organized a scientific symposium to present some of the highlights of the past five years and to look ahead to the next phase of MCEC. BertWeckhuysen has just welcomed all MCEC members from Faculty of Science, Utrecht University TU Eindhoven and University of Twente (inactive)

PhD student Laurens Mandemaker (@ldbmandemaker) just publishes in ChemEurJ: Chemistry - A European Journal on nano-web surface-mounted MOF films. These nano-web coatings have a higher amount of Lewis acid sites, and are more performant in alfa-pinene oxide isomerization. More info: doi.wiley.com/10.1002/chem.2…

Utrecht University

Last Friday the first joint doctorate of the MCEC Research Center program was awarded. Jeroen Vollenbroek got his PhD degree from both University of Twente (inactive) & Utrecht University. Very nice marriage between microreactor technology & catalysis. Proud that I could be together with Mathieu Odijk his promotor!

Anne-Eva Nieuwelink successfully defends Ph.D. in first MCEC Research Center Joint Doctorate degree with @UtrechtUni and University of Twente (inactive). Read about the fine marriage between microreactor technology and catalysis --> uu.nl/en/news/anne-e…

MCEC Member @wardvanderstam will be present at 'Operatie Breinbreker', a science festival where children and their families can get a glimpse into the day-to-day work at Utrecht University through experiments and workshops. Creating value from plastic waste! Catalysis is key to convert plastic waste. Upcycling processes pave the way toward a circular plastics economy, in which plastic is not considered waste, but rather a valuable raw material. Info in Science Magazine: science.sciencemag.org/content/370/65…

"I have collected over a hundred plastic yoghurt containers to use in my experiments. They serve as a constant reminder to the growing mountain of waste, and with this grant I will truly be able to do something about it,”says Veni laurete Ina Vollmer uu.nl/en/news/26-utr…

'Plastic: Chicken or Egg of the Waste Cycle' - That’s the topic BertWeckhuysen, Jaap den Doelder (TU Eindhoven), Ina Vollmer and Lonneke Slenders (Ioniqa Circular) will discuss during the MCEC Focus Session at CHAINS (NWO Domain Science (Inactive)). Join us next week! mcec-researchcenter.nl/mcec-focus-ses…

Are you attending Day 2 of NWO CHAINS today? At 14:15 we start our Focus Session: 'Plastic: chicken or egg of the waste cycle'. Read more about the focus of our session: mcec-researchcenter.nl/mcec-focus-ses… and see the program NWO Domain Science (Inactive) nwochains.nl/programme.php
