Some telling findings about our young people’s attitudes to education, the availability of drugs, paramilitary control and a lack of support for our politicians - in another excellent report from our one independent think tank here @PivotalPPF

With Matthew O'Toole, had a great meeting with US Special Envoy NI Joe Kennedy III about shared priorities. Skills, childcare & North / South potential are the keys to unlocking the economy & prosperity. We were at QUB for official opening of the impressive new School of Management

How could Northern Ireland draw inspiration for economic development from the Basque Country? Column by ⚔️ in The Irish News makes suggestions referencing Government Outcomes Lab's 'Turnaround cities' case study on the region👇 ow.ly/fWRc50PeSxi

Just looking at Northern Ireland Office pr on the forthcoming investment summit..two figs I hadn’t seen before - NI ‘attracted’ £19.2bn of (new?) inward investment in 2021 - evidence? And the 2021 UK Global Investment Summit raised £10bn & created 30,000 new jobs - how many in NI? JPCampbellBiz

Big thanks to Homefit - Belfast for its sponsorship of the Antrim GAA senior footballers golf day @ Hilton Templepatrick yesterday. Very well delivered by the footballers themselves, fantastic course, the scramble format was brilliant - we had a great day. homefitni.com

For many years I’ve looked at this treasured lane gated off at both the Waring St and High St ends. Now, it’s going to be reopened - that is brilliant news - many congrats to all who have made it happen, I can’t wait to walk along it.

It’s understood that of the £185m Barnett consequential for NI, as a result of the Autumn Statement, £75m will go towards the overspend & so will not be available for spending this year. The fate of the remaining £110m will be confirmed early next year.

Brilliant from Neil McManus - yesterday he lifted the Ulster GAA senior club hurling championship for Ruairí Óg Cushendall and tonight he’s in Belfast honouring a commitment to present St Brigids GAC hurlers with their medals. That’s what the GAA is about. Grma Neil. Antrim GAA

This is a very poor decision. The business bulletin is an essential part of a lengthy news programme which is supposed to reflect all of society. Business and the economy is a huge part of life in NI, deserves its platform.

Very sorry to report that Dave Pennick passed away yesterday morning after a short illness. For those of a certain vintage, Dave’s Howard St men’s clothes shop, Carter, was the only shop in Belfast to go to. 1/2

Dave, Andrew and Basil ran a brilliant business, it was how independent retail should be done - still continuing to this day as ‘Andrew Watson’. Dave loved his city and became an excellent President of Belfast Chamber. He gave a lot back to Belfast. Dave Pennick RIP.

Big Chris Murphy, a warrior of a teammate, a very talented footballer and a friendly, big-hearted man - gone suddenly, a terrible loss to all. Deepest condolences to his three children and the Murphy and McCartan clans. RIP
