What can we do about hearing loss? This episode features Franki Oliver RNID on the global picture; Kevin J Munro The University of Manchester on perceiving sound; Adam Carlton The University of Sheffield on losing our hearing; and Konstantina Stankovic Stanford Medicine on restoring it. thenakedscientists.com/podcasts/nakedโฆ
Vincent Lampone Stanford Medicine Deafness does not lead to dementia because people who are deaf rely on lip, reading and sign language. In some sense partial hearing loss is worse because people donโt realize the deficit, but with less sensory input, their brain starts to suffer or cognitive decline.
