UPDATE: A different judge has stepped up and issued a new and much more appropriate bond of $500,000! Along with a no contact order with the injured child. Incredibly grateful that common sense prevailed after shining the light on this poor decision. Hopefully accountability

Today I had the opportunity to testify before the US House Committee on Homeland Security in Washington DC. Austin is the 10th largest city in the United States with a million people living in the Capitol of Texas. Despite this, we don’t even make the top 25 list when it comes

Yelling and berating officers while also wanting to physically assault them is a great way to get your point across as a “professional” reporter.

If you’re wondering why I think Austin is on the brink of lawlessness - here’s some insight into why. Random people, going about their day suddenly becoming victims. Your officers are doing everything they can to hold this city together - but we’re at our limit.

Incredibly proud of our officers and their extraordinary efforts to protect innocent life. More and more APD officers are encountering violent and heinous criminals, yet they maintain the highest levels of professionalism in protecting our community. Your APD officers deserve

As happy as I am to read this news, I’m even more relieved for Officer Taylor who had to endure this ordeal. No one deserves to go through all this, yet APD officers continue to show up and defend the citizens of this city.

The City of Austin averaged 30 homicides PER YEAR from 2010 - 2019. APD has added 4 additional homicide detectives since 2021 (16 total). The 200% - 300% increase in homicides in Austin does not have to be the new norm.

Each time we’ve gone out of contract, the APA has returned to the table to help negotiate a new fair, competitive, and transparent contract. Since going out of contract the first time in 2018, we find ourselves in a historic staffing crisis that’s endangering Austinites. We are

I can’t thank Interim Chief of Police Robin Henderson enough for her tireless leadership and tenacity for the men and women of APD. Her dedication and legacy will leave an incredible void here. Not many people can go from Cadet to Chief over a 27 year career and be loved and respected from start to

The irony is unreal. A district attorney who screams about transparency and actively works against law enforcement - asks for over $100k in taxpayer money to help him feel safer. To make it worse the discussion was had in private, then when people ask for the information, an AG

No matter how long ago a heinous crime occurred, everyone deserves justice. Your APD Cold Case detectives are relentless in pursuit of that justice for those whose voice has been silenced.

500 officers short has a real impact on businesses and Austinites who expect to be able to safely run a business and live in Austin. We’re so close to having a contract that can make significant progress towards ending the staffing crisis. Question now is if the city will

Our hearts go out to our Dallas PD family on a tragic day where one of their officers was shot and killed in the line of duty with two other officers injured as well. Law enforcement is a calling and it takes an incredibly special group of people to willingly place their lives on

This is what your officers deal with on a regular basis. At about the 1:15 mark you see the individual in the white shirt drop a gun. Then when officers show up they have to give repeated commands to the individual with a gun, while other people are starting to walk up on them.

Shocking what happens when prosecutors are lackadaisical towards holding criminals accountable. They become more emboldened, prosecutors turn a blind eye, and someone gets killed. How is this compassionate? How is this reform? This is just dangerous.
