Food engineering problem: products such as crisps are sold in packs of fixed weight, but individual crisps vary in weight. How to fill packs to meet the declared minimum weight, but not give away excess product? The solution is elegant - and maybe a nice exercise for students?

Hooray for temperature data loggers. Small Bluetooth ones are readily available. Every nerd should have a few. Used them to adjust central heating timing a while ago. Waiting to find the time to do some serious analysis of indoor vs outdoor temperature (vs heating when on).
