Only five months to the day I moved back home from Vienna after the end of my PhD, but it feels like a lifetime away. It just feels so so distant.

Secured a Bengaluru Sustainability Forum Small Grant together with Initiative for Climate Action and Bangalore Creative Circus! We will aim to come up with a Ward-level heatwave action plan for a ward in North Bangalore. Very excited to work on something outside my comfort zone and we hope to do justice to it.

A wonderful study came out this week in Nature Climate Change on the future of carbon stocks in tropical ecosystems. I was delighted to be one of the reviewers (I learnt a lot!) and have been quoted in this summary!

Anyone has a copy of this book? ‘Volume Equations for Forests of India, Nepal and Bhutan’ by Forest Survey of India, 1996. Never had a harder time finding a book, and I would be very very thankful. #ForestTwitter #EnvironmentTwitter

Got shortlisted for a grant, which is now paying us a sizeable amount to develop our idea into a full proposal for submission. I wish more funders did this - writing proposals is not 'free' work.

It was fun to talk climate action and sustainability with communities based in Jakarta and Johannesburg in this shipping container turned portal.

Who is going to ATBC Conference in Coimbatore this year? Anushka Mrunalini Borkar Rege and me are organising a symposium on 'Agricultural commodity landscapes in the tropics: Towards solving a multi-dimensional sustainability challenge for the future'. Come submit an abstract! #ATBC2023

Twitter hive mind: Me and a couple of collaborators have done some cool work on analysing paths to sustainability in agricultural commodity production in India. We want to publish our work as a series of 5-8 popular science articles. Which outlets can support such an idea?

We are now hiring for a part-time and short-term Researcher under this project! If you work on climate adaptation and are based in Bangalore over the next few months, please apply! Please also retweet for reach. atree.org/jobs/researche…

Four dimensions make mitigating environmental impacts in agricultural commodity value chains difficult to achieve in practice. But they also present opportunities. There are ways through which concerted and coordinated action can have a positive impact on commodity value chains.

📢 New Paper Alert In this article, I and Manan Bhan discussed the key learnings from global approaches in designing carbon markets to build four cohesive design principles tailored for the development of a forest carbon market-based mechanism. Link below!
