I present to you the first-ever guide to all 131 D.C. neighborhoods. The goal of this two-year project is simple- to help make a big city smaller for locals, transplants, and tourists: bit.ly/DC131.

A tweet only cyclists will appreciate: There's no bigger satisfaction in life than successfully seating your tubeless tire after an hour of wrestling with and cursing at it.

A member of the House committee that has jurisdiction over D.C. does not seem to know exactly how the D.C. government operates, nor what the D.C. government has no power to do. (H/t to The GW Hatchet: gwhatchet.com/2024/05/01/liv…)

Martin Austermühle Absolutely Martin. Been saying basically the same thing to several people. What they did at GW should be seen as a positive development. It has been years since I've witnessed MPD up close in this situation but they have vast experience in this arena. I've often seen other…

There’s been lots of love for student journalists in other places dealing with protests, so here’s to the work being done by reporters and editors in D.C. at the The GW Hatchet, The Hoya, The Eagle, The Hilltop, and more.

Labour Day in Switzerland is funny. Only 10 of the country's 26 cantons observe it, and even then, not all of them give workers the full day off. (Two cantons do a half day.) My canton doesn't officially observe the day, but schools in my city (Lausanne) are closed.

Everyone needs to read this to understand how thoroughly WAMU 88.5’s leadership has decimated the region’s flagship public radio station. It’s tragic. Worse yet, it didn’t have to be this way.

WAMU's local newsroom is working under extraordinary circumstances to deliver the news.

The c-suite doesn't care about local reporting, and is undermining the work. Just read Andrew Beaujon's article: washingtonian.com/2024/04/19/why…

But remaining staff does care and could use your support.

This week, you’ll hear some union members on-air asking you to support WAMU & our work. If you choose to donate, we encourage you to send a note in solidarity with remaining local news staff to Erika Pulley-Hayes ([email protected]) & Sarah Baldassaro ([email protected]).

The best part of pro cycling: It’s free to watch in person, you can be inches from some of the world’s best cyclists, and the views in the places they race are pretty unbeatable.
