A puzzling find on Wood Sage this afternoon at Bennett's Meadow Avon Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve! This looks like a slime mould but I thought that these were non-pathogenic, saprophytic organisms 🤔 🤷♂️ ?British Mycological Society #TwitterNatureCommunity
An interesting fungal leaf pathogen seen on a garden Forsythia sp. near Leigh Woods today. It looks remarkably like Cladosporium forsythiae, a species first detected in Germany in 2013. There appears to be no information on its UK status 🤷♂️ British Mycological Society #TwitterNatureCommunity
I was surprised to find the Anther Smut Fungus Microbotryum silene-diocae on some late flowering Red Campion near Abbot's Pool in North Somerset this morning. British Mycological Society #TwitterNatureCommunity
Common Ash heavily infected by the hypophyllous powdery mildew Phyllactinia fraxini. Masses of both new and mature cleistothecia present! Seen on the North Somerset side of Clifton Suspension Bridge this afternoon. British Mycological Society #TwitterNatureCommunity
A new invertebrate for me this year - Box Bug (Gonocerus acuteangulatus) nymph on a hedgerow Lilac near Abbot's Pool in North Somerset. Coleopterists Society of Britain and Ireland #TwitterNatureCommunity
