This is not the case with almost all my philosophy undergrads, who are smart and hard working student. They typically read lengthy complex texts and are prepared to discuss them in class. Sure there are outliers but for the most part they read and read well.

Boy do I love these steamy humid summer nights. Just put on Yo La Tengo's "Green Arrow" and sit outside and feel the air. I miss those Chapel Hill Days 25 years ago when I had a month or two of this and many fewer responsibilities.
