Last year, my husband’s hometown was terrorized by gun violence. Tonight I got to be an er doc on call during a mass shooting where we call home. Enough is enough has been enough for a long time. Gun violence needs to stop. cnn.com/2023/07/05/us/…

Being told you look too young to intubate a patient 5 days before your birthday as an overtired PEM attending is an excellent way to end a shift. The good outcome for the patient was also an added bonus.

Highlights (or should I say lowlights?): ❌ loss of funds for Women, Infants, & Children (WIC) assistance program, geared to assist moms & babies ❌ delayed release of critical regulations ❌ delayed Medicare payments to providers This shutdown impacts us all.
