When my kids are not in school, my schedule gets tight. That's when things like "time boxing" become critical. Limiting time for a task is a good practice or you can wind up in "it's not yet perfect" land. You have to ship your work. "Real Artists Ship" - Steve Jobs.

Too many people starting out just steal a brand idea from someone else. It slows you down. A strong authentic brand will convert better than your stealing a logo. ❤️🚀

You don't test your ideas early enough. You spend months on your great idea and then have to pivot. You are optimistic about your idea. Optimism is good. Verifying your optimism will save you thousands and hours of time. Ask a friend for feedback.✅

I always liked the motto from the band Rush. As Neil Peart (RIP) has said "We make music we like and hope other people will like it too." I'll just leave it there. Have a great weekend!

Using an Archetype is a great way to focus. I was able to drill down into what I was doing and who would benefit. I didn't use it last time, and my business floundered. I wrote about it this week in the Anti-hustler. You can read about it here. matthewkantor.com

Productivity problems are often focus problems. Do fewer more important things, take more time doing better work. Plus, Fewer things is easier to time block. You still have the rest of the day to do whatever.

P: Who are you voting for? me: I'm not voting, they are all terrible. P: You have to vote! It's your duty. me: Ok, I'm voting Libertarian. P: That's a waste of a vote. me: Ok, I'll vote for the PC party. P: I think not voting sends a strong message.

If you want to work for a great boss, hire yourself and start your own business. If you do this and your new boss sucks, hire me, I can help coach them. I help founders start and scale successful companies while making time for what's really important. 🚀

I used to think nobody cared what I ate for lunch, and I stopped posting personal stuff on Social. Apparently people do care . That's why my wife has 40K instagram followers and I don't. And my lunches are way better. Share.

Using a crowbar to get sales will haunt you in hours and days. It's called a "bad deal". Maybe not for you but for someone else. A good deal is always win-win. It often means more deals to come.

If you want to make $, you need to ask. Offer something, talk about it, make people know about how it adds value. I owned a restaurant when I was younger, tried to make it cool and mysterious. Nobody came. Help people realize your value.

Unpopular approach: I always had a goal - when I worked someplace I wanted to automate myself out of a job, and then go do something else. if you are afraid AI will take your job, stop being afraid and help it so you can go do something new. 🧵

All too often I hear people say "I should have done this years ago". Today is "years ago" in 3 years. You will thank yourself later for doing things now. You aren't too late today, but you soon will be.

I spent the first half of my career learning about systems and automation. I spent the second half implementing them for my bosses. Now I do it for you.

I have several books on productivity. I've replaced them with three principles. 1. Get rid of all useless work 2. Defer and delegate all non-urgent work 3. Focus on top 3 things a day

My daughter made me a paper laptop. A cardboard phone. She made her own tools because I was always on mine. She just wanted in. I wasn’t there. I was grinding for a company that I treated like family while missing dinner with my actual one. Always “too busy.” thread 🧵
