Two years ago we created a bacterium #syn61 with a new genetic code. Now we've put the bug to good use and shown that it 1) is resistant to cocktails of viruses, and 2) can be programmed to produce polymers made entirely from non-canonical amino acids. science.sciencemag.org/content/372/65…
