I love when perennials bloom in our yard. 🪴 These gardenia cuttings smell amazing in our living room!

We don’t talk enough about how difficult it is to be a writer AND a reader at the same time. 😵‍💫 Having the mental energy to do both—write your own work while reading others’ projects—is a major challenge!

We grilled some great burgers this weekend, and we nommed on them alongside grilled corn and baked beans. 🤤 I also made a delicious casserole with squash and zucchini from the backyard garden.

My wife and I enjoyed a couple weeks in New England this month, starting and ending in Boston.

The Boston Public Library is such a beautiful place!

📍 Louisa May Alcott’s Orchard House in Concord, Massachusetts, definitely my overall favorite of the literary homes we toured in New England because of the quaint feel and original furnishings and artifacts preserved in the home

Walden Pond, the namesake Massachusetts location of Henry David Thoreau’s landmark self-reliance book, is now a swimming and boating recreation area. 🧐 … It was so crowded the day we were in the area that it was closed due to reaching capacity. That just feels wrong. 😑

Okay, so I don’t get pies baked daily (or even weekly these days), but I did bake a scratchmade Blackberry Crumb Pie today. 👨‍🍳
