I despise the idea we need people teaching, training, informing us on rules, regulations & documentation to get paid by insurance companies…or how the words “fraud” & “ethical” get tossed around when it’s the insurance companies screwing people over.

I talk w/a reasonable number of full time staff PTs during the week. 0% have an APTA membership. The PTs I hear of w/memberships have positions in academia, are in part time patient care, in management, or actively looking to get out of full time patient care.

Hard not being nihilistic reading about so many instances of non-professionals seeking an advantage (cheating🤷?) in hobbies it’s no wonder those making a living do the same. Online gaming, virtual cycling, country club/amateur(?) golfing, Strava….

Golf: Ball, clubs, handicap manipulation, rules, ringers, etc Running: Supplements, bicarbonate,$200+ shoes Cycling: TT bars/bikes, drafting, clothing, wheels, tailwinds… Gaming: “Micro-transactions” Hunting, fishing, you name it…

The idea that exercises in the gym should share superficial similarity with movements performed in or on the field/court/ring/cage etc rather than significantly improving general force production capacity first, is the central fallacy of the sport specific training paradigm.

And yet there are entire industries & societal roles doing their best to sabotage it.

I’ve heard this more times than I can count…. “I only took the dry needling course because employers put it as a requirement. I know it doesn’t do anything.”

Observations walking the windy city -It would be cool to live AND work in the city. No amount of $ is worth a commute. -It’s peaceful away from main highways -“unsafe” areas are what you’d expect. No different than my zipcode -83-100k for a PT. Get a roommate…or 5😄

One more observation/opinion: You have got to be INSANE to ride any two wheeled object on the streets in this city.
