PI's log....day 3 of 3-yo fever. Fever down but productivity remains non-existant. Everything's fine...juuuust fine...didn't have much to do between lab and teaching this week.

I usually like filling out JIT info. But this is a new one... on the floor with feverish 6 yo after getting barfed on. Just hoping she sleeps well. Going to have to rewrite most of my comments to R3 I think...seems a bit R rated at the moment. #thisisfine

I'm not going to lie, I'm extremely proud of my banana son who gave up half his candy to his buddies sister and the other half to his buddy who was sick and couldn't trick or treat. #prioritize

Sad to miss it bc of science but happy birthday the strongest willed person I have ever met....4 yo or not!

That time of year where I run mice on the holidays and realize I have no idea how to science in my own lab anymore. Clearly it's been a while since I've been in the self-ad room when I haven't seen this yet.

Not sure how I feel about being called Matthew by my 4-yo (I mean its Dr....) but I do appreciate that she already misses me even though I was just got dropped at the airport 60 min ago! #wcbr2023 better late than never!

Found out today that I got tenure. 6 years in the making and happy to be where I am Marquette University BISC Neuroscience Research. I celebrated big....coaching baseball for 3 hours after work.

Hobbies with my son are easy....sports and video games. So taking up hobbies with my daughter that she likes. I'm not going to lie, I can whip out an IC double infusion or implant surgery without thinking but this stuff....clearly I got the beginners kit.

Hmmm, working with a great PI, well funded lab, at an institution that is unmatched in addiction research....Definitely wouldn't want to post doc there...oh wait! Check out Scofield Laboratory for the place to be!!

Don't normally post awards bc I've been on the other side too many times. Rather, this post is meant to be a sign of hope for all those struggling. Took 5 iterations before getting this (first R01). The struggle is real, but keep the faith in your science!

When your son is super sad bc he lost his first pet of course his sisters make a coffin and headstone for the hamster....sibling support is the best!!
