Jon interviewed Leslie Rutledge, Arkansas Attorney General, about why her state banned gender-affirming care for minors - ignoring the guidelines of major medical organizations and taking the decision out of parents’ hands. Watch the full interview on @AppleTVPlus

A bit late to the party but I'm finally heading to Birmingham for #MicroBio23! I'll be giving a talk tomorrow morning for anyone interested in S-layers - a fun way to conclude my DPhil work 🎉

I have no particularly strong opinions about the very hot debate about medical transition, but I came across this article and thought it might be useful to point out how quite a lot of the factual claims appear to be largely unsupported and/or wrong 1/n

Excited to share that the first paper from the Isom lab is now available on Biorxiv! (biorxiv.org/content/10.110…). We have investigated YhdP at the molecular level to show that it forms an envelope-spanning bridge and that putative phospholipids are found inside this bridge!

🚨Attention diderm enthusiasts 🦠🧫! Want to see the TolQR motor structure? Or why TolA is so alpha-helical? Or what happens when you mutate the centre of TolA to an intrinsically disordered sequence? Read our new paper for all this and more! pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…

DELIGHTED that this is finally in print 🙌 Here, we study HMPV nucleoprotein structures and how they bind to the phosphoprotein - the essential cofactor of the viral polymerase. HUGE thanks to our great collaborators, and to the legendary @MaxxRenner nature.com/articles/s4146…

Super happy to see this in Nature Communications! A huge thanks to the coauthors and the entire @TBharat_lab, particularly Buse Isbilir, who really help get the project over the finish line
