Ultimately, you cannot put people like Liz Truss, Boris Johnson, Nadine Dorries, Gavin Williamson & Chris Grayling in charge of things and expect those things to work. The "natural party of government" needs to ask how it became so unserious about the people it chose to govern.

Well said sir. There are people who have genuine concerns about immigration, and who are entitled to feel these concerns haven’t always been listened to. But the rioters aren’t among them.

This is a silly point-scoring game by the Conservatives. The PM is absolutely right to dismiss the question with the disdain it deserves. There are serious unresolved challenges about containing Chinese influence in the UK. Sadly, the Conservatives did little to deal with them

I think Badenoch was by far the better choice for the Tories but her judgement is clearly suspect and this is an excellent early example. Completely misses the point of Partygate.

Would be a sensible move. We only have one carrier group. Much better to concentrate on funding that properly, and the rest of the Navy, rather than carrying on overstretched, with ships left out of service for long periods to save money.
