The pandemic should have led to universal health care, paid sick leave, upgraded ventilation in millions of buildings, massive investment in preventive healthcare and ongoing vaccination campaigns. Instead we got $1200 and the impending criminalization of masking.

For $2.90. A cop opened fire. For $2.90. A bystander, shot in the head, is in critical condition & another bystander and cop were shot as well. For $2.90. Let us never normalize this harm/violence. What is considered a crime is socially constructed. search.app/4hPAPibEYmh8nB…

The NYPD spent $150 Million *extra* last year to catch people who weren't able to afford to pay the subway fare. They owed just $104,000. $150 million could buy free fares (at going rate) for 95,000 poor New Yorkers per year. Instead four people shot, including an officer.

The law of armed conflict draws our attention to discrete acts and violations in ways that obscure larger structures of violence. This leads us to focus on a specific tree and miss the entire forest on fire. ICYMI ASIL webinar: youtube.com/live/o13N1L0T-… On Legal Cynicism in War

We are in an uncontrolled pandemic that is creating a recognized disability and academics are busy writing think pieces about how there are too many disability accommodations.

Nothing to see here -- just an internal report by Shell from 1989 precisely predicting the "violent weather" and "deluges" that just destroyed half of Appalachia, and summing up expected climate chaos with the comment, "Civilisation could prove a fragile thing."
