The opportunity to meet with not one, but two Nobel Laureates is not something that comes around very often. Our own Prof Jodie Bradby having a chat with Professor Donna Strickland and Professor Brian Schmidt last week!

Great talk by Buddini Karawdeniya at AIP Congress Official this week. Huge conference of over 1000 physicists in beautiful Adelaide.

Catching up on tweets! Its been a busy week! Our own Prof Jodie Bradby is interviewed on The Briefing pod about lab-grown diamonds.💎 podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/are…

Congratulations to Xingshuo Huang and the whole team on the publication of their new paper "Hardness of nano- and microcrystalline lonsdaleite" aip.scitation.org/doi/10.1063/5.…

Our ANU PhD Student Shankar Dutt Shankar Dutt lit up the physics space at the Royal Society of NSW Annual Dinner last night, winning the Jak Kelly award for excellence in postgraduate research in physics. 🤩 ourANU PhysicsANU

Congratulations to group member Shankar Dutt on receiving the Jak Kelly Award Royal Society of NSW award at the Royal Society of NSW's 2023 dinner. Fabulous to see Shankar's work on nanopore sensing for the detection of complex biomolecules receiving such well-deserved recognition.

Our latest paper in ACS Analytical Chemistry Journals shows how we created ultra-thin nanopore membranes with a thickness of just 3nm. By using these membranes, we achieved over 1.8 million events for DNA and protein sensing. Check out our paper to learn more! doi.org/10.1021/acs.an… PhysicsANU

Our own Prof Jodie Bradby is hosting Under the Microscope this week. Lots of fun facts about diamonds and life as a high pressure physicist.

Congratulations to Shankar Dutt, Patrick Kluth and whole team on their new paper, “Annealing of Swift HeavyIon Tracks in Amorphous Silicon Dioxide” PhysicsANU

From Shankar Dutt, et al., Fabricating ultra-thin high-lifetime silicon nitride membranes with a thickness of only 3 nm! Advanced Materials Group team achieved >1.8M biomolecule translocations through a single nanopore. To read more 👉 go.acs.org/56B

We are thrilled to announce that our very own Shankar Dutt has been honoured with the prestigious Young Research Award (#NIMBElsevierAward) at the 21st Conference on Radiation Effects in Insulators sponsored by @ElsevierPhysics! 🏆 Well done Shankar! PhysicsANU Science & Medicine at ANU

Congratulations to Advanced Materials Group 's Xingshuo Huang for winning a poster prize at the recent #iucr2023 👏💪

Failing is an essential part of the scientific process, and yet we rarely hear about it. So we asked a group of professors from PhysicsANU to tell us about their most memorable failures. Prof Jodie Bradby Advanced Materials Group science.anu.edu.au/news-events/ne…
