DFS Special Operations and Fire Academy staff joined Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee and other Executive Office of Public Safety and Security agencies last week for the 27th Annual Stations Day event for youngsters in Lynnfield. Special Ops delivered the Incident Support Trailer and a #Drone unit, while MFA staff put students on a handline.

Croeso! DFS recently hosted Assistant Chief Fire Officer Craig Flannery of Tân CGC / MAWW Fire as he visited fire training centers across the US. In addition to showing off the Fire Academy's main campus, we also discussed the Hazmat, fire safety, and fire investigation resources we offer.

DFS, Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee, & @ALERRTCenter delivered an active shooter training for personnel from Hull Fire Department, Hull Police, Boston, Lancaster, Marshfield, Mashpee, Norwell, and Suffolk Univ. The integrated curriculum trains police and fire to #StopTheKilling and #StopTheDying.

After months of training, these K9s and experienced handlers were certified as ignitable liquid or explosive detection #K9 teams. Now they work w/ Massachusetts State Police fire investigators and bomb techs assigned to Massachusetts State Fire Marshal, Babson Police, Endicott College PD, & Fall River Police.

Congratulations to Jeff Winn! Jeff came to DFS after a distinguished career in the Mass. National Guard, and served as director of both the Fire Academy and the #Hazmat Division. Massachusetts State Fire Marshal and staff recognized his contributions at a retirement party yesterday. Thank you, sir!

#TechRescue Tuesday: Fire Academy staff recently delivered the Rope Rescue Operational Level course at FallRiverFire. Highly motivated firefighters from across the state practiced for future emergencies while building a solid foundation for additional technical rescue training.
