Reading a preview volume of The Awl by Choi Gyu-Seok, an upcoming ABLAZE manhwa release, and boy -- it's an eye-opening look at what it takes for workers to unionize against overwhelming odds in S. Korea. Terrific visual storytelling! Preorder: ablaze.net/products?p=G97…

I've noticed a trend in fandom where people treat stories as if the author is simply describing a world that actually exists, rather than making storytelling decisions that can be critiqued on their own merits x.com/MrMcWhiteGuy1/…

Good tip for freelancers (and anyone who can’t afford lots of mag subscriptions) - try the Libby app. Connect it to your library and if they subscribe to the mag you get it free in the app. I get full digital access to the New Yorker, NYRB, Paris Review etc - it’s incredible

When "Manga! Manga!" was published in 1983, it predated much of the contemporary manga boom, even in Japan. AKIRA by Katsuhiro Otomo debuted in late 1982. Dragon Ball joined Shonen Jump in 1984. Codename: Sailor V, the precursor to Sailor Moon debuted in 1991.
