It's my urgent priority to reset industrial relations to benefit passengers and the workforce. That's why we’ve resumed talks with Aslef and we're making progress on resolving this rail dispute – with further discussions to come. independent.co.uk/news/uk/transp…

Today Louise Haigh will set out The Labour Party’s plans to take our railways into public ownership To end the managed decline of our railways and make them: ✅ Passenger-focused ✅ Publicly owned ✅ Fit for the future 3 weeks into Government, we’re delivering on our promise for Change.

We have long campaigned for the re-nationalisation of our railways, this is a welcome first step to bring the train operators into public ownership. We were glad to be joined by MPs today, to mark the next step towards public ownership. #ontracktopublicownership

Privatisation has put profit over people. Today is an important first step towards bringing our railways fully back in to public ownership. It’s time to invest in our railways, drive up standards and make fares affordable.

Today in Parliament we have the Second Reading of the Passenger Railway Services (Public Ownership) Bill. I'll be voting to bring our railways into public ownership, and am delighted our new Transport Secretary Louise Haigh is full steam ahead on keeping our manifesto commitments 🚂

Rail privatisation put profit before passengers. Today MPs will vote to take the first steps to bring rail back into public ownership, ending that failed 30-year experiment. It's time to listen to rail unions – ASLEF, RMT and TSSA – and invest in our railways.

Under the Tories, fares rose almost twice as fast as wages & cancellations soared to record levels. So it was great to join ASLEF today to celebrate The Labour Party's Passenger Railway Services Bill, a critical first step in putting passengers back at the heart of the service.

We used to say Brexit was like watching your local library being burned down by people who can’t read and now it has actually happened.

I applaud & welcome the stance taken by Louise Haigh, our new The Labour Party government, and the Department for Transport on the importance of rail & other public services, but there may be others in the industry still attempting to peddle the myth that nobody travels by train: 09:15 today ⬇️

Only a Tory would call pay rises for workers "corrupt". Thank fuck these leeches have been fucked off out of power. Next, we come for their riches!!

Marz Colombini (@marzc) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Please can Tories stop scaremongering about The Labour Party tax increases. It probably won’t happen, but I genuinely want taxes to go up. How else are we going to meet the cost of repairing the society that the Conservatives smashed to pieces?

Over decades the Tories have tried to destroy trade unionism, pitting workers against each other Our Government is serious about improving industrial relations & I am glad as part of that that we will repeal the Trade Union Act & strengthen workers rights
