Scampston snapshots June 2020. So exciting to visit yesterday and see the Walled Garden shimmering with early summer growth in the sunshine. 1: Symmetries, axes, layers. Scampston #chooselandscape #pietoudolf

Huge excitement in the greenhouse: first emergence of the Oxalis triangularis 'Atropurpurea' from Derry Watkins which I planted on 12 June. #chooselandscape

Rainy yesterday hugely brightened by a visit to the Meanwood back garden I designed three years ago. Planting really hitting its stride, thanks to the scrupulous care of my clients. Highlights: Aruncus 'Horatio' and Persicaria alpina; Clematis 'Alba Luxurians'. #chooselandscape

Thank you, Clare Wigzell! You're definitely right about the synergy. And there's nothing nicer for a garden designer than seeing happy clients with a thriving garden.

Yesterday was the most perfect day for site analysis high up in the West Yorkshire Pennines. Folded valleys, distant hillsides, cloud shadows, field patterns, clutches of trees signalling habitation and Yorkshire stone walls all shimmering in the sunshine. #chooselandscape

More highlights from my rainy visit last week to the Meanwood garden I designed. The front garden is now mostly planted up, and the current stars include Astrantia 'Jumble Hole', bought from dovecottagenursery.co.uk and bred by Richard Easton. #chooselandscape
