My morning's fun, broad-strokes generalizations:

Even the most hardened Marxists talk to their animals. Even the most technocratic object-oriented ontologists know the difference between a community of rocks and that of dolphins.

I just experienced the freedom of writing a footnote without including place of publication. To think that could have been my life.

Joke draft of acknowledgements for my next book.
'Sadly, I’ve also got to name a few people who stood in the way—those without whom the book would still have been written and would likely have been better.'

Incredible that The City University of New York's first economic offer to the our faculty union, the PSC_CUNY, is actually below the current level of inflation, 3.5 %. They offered us 3% for 2023. If anyone wants to do a study of what the inability to strike does to union wages, come visit to NYC!

Getting fan mail from fellow feline Marxists has been a genuine delight since the publication of 'Marx for Cats.' But this vaguely Ginsbergian poem surpasses all--an internist working during the early pandemic days imagines a feline revolution as salvation. Duke University Press

What exactly would I give right now to live in a country with socialized day-care and elder-care? 55% income tax seems like a genuine bargain!

Our son was born during the surreal pandemic month of May 2020 and the poet, Joanna Klink, penned this to welcome him into that strange world. So happy to see it published today by the American Academy of Poets at poets.org. Roar.

'...squalor can be a delight to the eyes, when expressed in commodification...an unparalleled quantum leap in the alienation of daily life in the city can now be experienced in the form of a strange new hallucinatory exhilaration.' F. Jameson, 1984, avant la lettre

OK folks, this is real: my hometown public library, in Blacksburg VA, hosts a 'Caturday' event where one can sign up for a 15 min slot to read to cats, bused in from a local shelter.
